HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY
PURPOSE
Philosophi, LLC., together with its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively, “Philosophi”), is committed to respecting and supporting fundamental human rights in all aspects of our business.
Since our founding, we have recognized the importance of privacy, civil liberties, and other essential rights as core to human dignity and democratic societies.
This Human Rights Policy sets forth our principles and commitments to uphold internationally recognized human rights wherever we operate. The policy applies to all Philosophi officers, directors, employees, contractors, consultants, and other individuals acting on our behalf.
Philosophi operates globally and works with public institutions, private enterprises, and non-profit organizations across multiple sectors. As our business and customer base expand, our foundational commitment to privacy, civil liberties, security, and responsible technology use remains central to our identity. Human rights due diligence for suppliers and partners is further addressed in our Supplier Code of Conduct.
PHILOSOPHI’S COMMITMENT TO HUMAN RIGHTS
Philosophi acknowledges its responsibility to respect human rights and supports the principles articulated in the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. In particular, and as most relevant to our business, we affirm support for:
- The right to life, liberty, and security of person (UDHR Article 3)
- The right to privacy and protection from arbitrary interference (UDHR Article 12)
- The right to equality and freedom from discrimination (UDHR Article 2)
These principles have guided our approach to building technology that emphasizes privacy, civil liberties, accountability, and human oversight.
MODERN SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Modern slavery and human trafficking are serious violations of human rights. Philosophi is committed to preventing such practices within our operations and supply chains. We maintain policies and procedures designed to mitigate the risk of forced labor and trafficking. While we believe the risk of such practices occurring directly within our operations is low, we remain vigilant and continuously assess our supply chain and workplace practices. Our approach and controls are detailed further in our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statements.
ACCESS TO REMEDY AND SPEAK-UP CULTURE
Philosophi supports access to remedy for individuals impacted by adverse human rights outcomes. We foster an internal culture where ethical and legal concerns can be raised openly without fear of retaliation. Our Code of Conduct outlines mechanisms for reporting concerns confidentially or anonymously. Retaliation against anyone who raises concerns in good faith is strictly prohibited.
MISSION, VALUES, AND RESPONSIBLE TECHNOLOGY
Philosophi partners with organizations addressing complex and sensitive challenges across logistics, mobility, infrastructure, energy, security-adjacent research, and other domains. We recognize that work in such areas may raise legitimate questions regarding the appropriate use of data and technology.
We believe that protecting human rights requires responsible engagement, including with institutions whose missions may involve balancing security, safety, and civil liberties. We seek to uphold human rights by supporting well-functioning institutions while embedding privacy, accountability, and transparency into our technology.
We recognize that certain rights may exist in tension with one another in complex operational contexts. By acknowledging this nuance, we strive to avoid simplistic trade-offs and to ensure that privacy and civil liberties remain foundational elements of our systems.
INTEGRATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS INTO OUR BUSINESS
Human rights considerations are integrated into Philosophi’s organizational structure and product development processes.
We incorporate principles such as privacy-by-design, auditability, and human oversight directly into our software architecture. We believe that decisions with significant impact on individuals’ rights should not be left solely to automated systems and must involve appropriate human judgment.
Philosophi also consults with external advisors and experts in privacy, ethics, and human rights to better understand and address emerging challenges. In addition, we collaborate with humanitarian and non-profit organizations whose missions include protecting vulnerable populations and advancing fundamental rights.
PARTNER AND CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS
Philosophi is a software company, not a data broker or data aggregator. Our customers retain ownership and control of their data. Except for limited internal business operations, we do not collect, store, or sell personal data.
We expect customers and partners to respect human rights in their use of our products, while recognizing the legal and practical limits on our ability to monitor customer activities. Our approach to mitigating risk includes:
- Privacy-by-design and security-by-default in our products
- Risk assessment prior to engagement, including industry and geographic considerations
- Careful review of new use cases, supported by employee training on privacy and ethics
- Responsive action when concerns regarding misuse are raised, including contractual remedies and potential termination
For supplier-specific expectations, see our Supplier Code of Conduct.
HOW TO RAISE HUMAN RIGHTS CONCERNS
Philosophi maintains accessible reporting channels for raising concerns related to human rights:
- Confidential reporting through internal ethics and compliance channels
- Anonymous reporting via a third-party whistleblower mechanism, where permitted
- External reporting via policy@philosophi.ai
We commit to reviewing all credible concerns and taking appropriate action to mitigate adverse impacts.
